There is this superstitious belief in the Philippines that when the sun is shining and it is raining at the same time, a syokoy (merman) and a sirena (mermaid) are currently getting married. But it depends on which part of the Philippines the story is told. Sometime it is a tikbalang (a mythological creature that is half-horse half-human) and a sirena.
