Valentine a la Ph Marketing

So yesterday when my lunch buddies and I went back to the office after the break, our colleagues were putting some balloons and heart cut-outs in the walls and ceilings of our dirty little office.

The Christmas Tree that remained where it stood since Christmas season was turned into a Valentine Tree with small red heart cut-out placed around it. Balloons in white and pink colours were hung at the ceiling.

Last week, we were playing around the idea of celebrating Valentine's Day at the office because no one filed a leave of absence that day. I didn't know our bosses would take it seriously. As one of the managers said, we always make a small occasion an excuse to hold celebrations. And what else would complete such occasions, of course, food! We had pizzas and marshmallows and pretzels dipped in chocolate.

After filling-up, we didn't go back to work immediately because our managers had thought of a dating game, plainly for fun. Not the one where the winners would actually go out on a date. It's kinda lame you might say but the game itself was one helluva fun! The most appropriate adjective is hilarious, yes, the dating game itself was hilarious.

Four searchees were chosen to represent the female group while the guys who are outnumbered chose one who would be the searcher. I almost played as searchee but then I (strongly) declined because I felt the process of choosing (bunutan) was not fair since I didn't get to pick a paper, just the last fallen piece of paper which turned out to be positive. When we did it for the second time, I got the negative piece! Yey! Ang korni ko noh. Ganun talaga pag wala kang bet sa office niyo. The men, on the other hand, had a more diplomatic way of choosing who's the searcher going to be.

The managers prepared some questions that every searchee must answer, while on the other side (of the white board), the other men coached the searcher in choosing which among the searchees they prefer through their answers.

Sample questions:

Kung hayop ka, ano ka at bakit? (Funny answer: Higad. Kasi makati.)

San mo gustong magkipag-date? (Serious answer: Sa bahay, para makilala ng parents.)

And so on. Call us mababaw but everyone was LOLing at almost every answer because it seemed every searchee would wanna win so they tried giving their best shot at each question. Of course, we, the non-participants have our own girl to coach.

The searcher and the winning searchee. As I said they didn't really went out on a date. It could've been more fun if they really did.

Happy Valentine everyone!
