Cebu's Popular Spots

As much as I wanted to sleep some more, we had to go out to meet up with Vera's friends who just arrived. A little later, two people from the group, Tina and Bret asked if they could go to where we're staying and take a nap. All of them are still in school, and Tina just came from work the night before. The boys, the remaining people in the group, on the other hand, went to John's (Vera's coach who's from Cebu). When they were all gone, Dona and I lingered at SM for a while, and then went to Sto. Nino Basilica.

The church visit was quick. I wanted to get out of there immediately since I was discriminated upon entering the place. It was my fault I wore inappropriate clothing. I pack light and I only brought shorts and a pair of slippers. Disclaimer, I didn't really plan to go inside. All I wanted was a photo with Magellan's Cross which was outside the cathedral.

From the basilica, we went to get lunch. We wanted to eat at a turo-turo for cheaper local food but we walked several streets and didn't find any (later we will learn that we walked into the wrong direction). We gave up and just entered the very first restaurant we saw. It was a Chinese restaurant.

After lunch, we had to fetch Vera and altogether we went to a Taoist Temple located in a hill overlooking the metro. We hired a habal-habal (all three of us in a single motor) to take us to Beverly Hills but we had to walk few meters up to the temple. The temple is situated in an exclusive village and there were very few were private vehicles and cabs passing by and it was rich with trees so walking was a bliss. Also, there were lots of greens!

Before the sun set, we went to Tops, the 'supposedly' highest peak in Cebu (Busay Hill). Tops deck offers an amazing view of the metro in glittering lights at night. Entrance fee is P100 per person and you get a 50% discount if your habal-habal driver is a cardholder. Bring a jacket/shawl/scarf because the temperature in that area is low.

Tops is just one of the many places you can go to if you want to get a good view of Cebu. There are lots of other shops and some even offer adventure rides like zipline. Maybe it's better if you check out the whole place during daytime.

We waited for the others to arrive before heading back to Simeon's place. We waited for them to get back again so we can have dinner altogether. We dined at The Outpost. Even from the outside, the place looks nice and we thought cool people hang out in there because it's artsy.

After dinner, we went for some karaoke. Merlo and a friend later joined us. We called it a night after snacks at McDonald's. The boys went to One Mango to waste time aways because they planned not to sleep.
