Buko for life!

Buko salad is a staple during holiday celebrations at home. Marami kasing niyog sa'min na libre. At syempre ako ang official taga-kayod ng buko. Subsequently, during these times, unlimited ang buko juice.

Personally, I prefer buco salad than the ones using pasta. Hindi mabigat sa tiyan, and para lang siyang halo-halo or ice cream.

Just a little fun fact: In my hometown, there is a belief that if a coconut fruit looks like this on the inside, it was eaten by a ghost (naanani/inal-alya in Ybanag and Ilocano languages). So this means, it has gotten bad. I am sure there is a scientific explanation for this.

Another fun fact: This part of the coconut fruit is edible. We call it 'para.'
