Quick Review of Gong Hyo Jin's Dramas

It looks like somebody has been marathoning Korean dramas lately. I spent a considerable amount of my time watching dramas starring actress Gong Hyo Jin. I don't even know how to do reviews, but here are my two cents.

Jealousy Incarnate (2016)
Stars: Gong Hyo Jin, Jo Jong Suk, Choi Hwa Jeong

The plot, basically: Lee Hwa Shin (Jo Jung Suk) is a news anchor in a television network where Pyo Na Ri (Gong Hyo Jin) also works as a weather broadcaster. Na Ri had a crush on Hwa Shin, however, he rejected her.

Na Ri met Go Kyung Po, a rich businessman and also Hwa Shin's bestfriend. The two started dating, and just like what happens in dramas, suddenly, Hwa Shin wants the girl for himself.

The story becomes more exciting when Hwa Shin was diagnosed with breast cancer and gets treated at the same hospital where Na Ri also goes.

Your unnie reacts: The plot is unique. This drama is just the right mix of drama, romance, and comedy whilst being informative. (Before watching this drama, I did not know that males could also develop breast cancer.) Great performances of the actors. It has a lot of funny scenes.

It’s Okay, It’s Love (2014)
Gwaenchanhah, Sarangiya (original title)
Stars: Gong Hyo Jin, Jo In Sung, Do Kyung Soo, Sung Dong Il

The plot, basically: Ji Hae Soo (Gong Hyo Jin), a psychiatrist, falls in love with Jang Jae Yeol, a writer and a radio DJ who has schizophrenia, but also very good looking.

Your unnie reacts: A heartbreaking drama. Plot, soundtracks, settings, cinematography and overall aesthetics are good. At this point, I've already a substantial amount of Korean dramas but I still find it weird k-dramas have a tendency to revolve in their own little world, like, how unlucky can you be to have known all these people who suffer from the same problems/issues.

Master’s Sun (2013)
Joogoonui Taeyang (original title)
Stars: Gong Hyo Jin, So Ji Sub, Seo In Guk

The plot, basically: Tae Gong Shil (Gong Hyo Jin) sees ghosts but she never gets used to it. One day, she encounters Joo Jong Won (So Ji Sub), a rich businessman, whose presence makes the ghosts vanish. Gong Shil then tries to get close to him make the ghosts disappear.

Your unnie reacts: I find this drama funny. For shallow people like myself, this one is fun to watch. It's not scary at all. Hyo Jin's comedy prowess in the display. Plus swoon over Ji Sub oppa.

4. The Greatest Love (2011)
Stars: Gong Hyo Jin, Cha Seung Won, Yoon Kye Sang, Yoo In Na

The plot, basically: Gu Ae Jung (Gong Hyo Jin) is a former member of National Treasure Girls, a popular girl group. After getting involved in a scandal, the group broke up and now Ae Jung is a D-list celebrity who appears on random TV shows just to make money. She meets Dok Go Jin (Cha Seung Won), a famous action star, who is currently in an on-screen relationship with Kang Se Ri, also a member of NTG. For some reason, Dok Go Jin was 'hypnotized' by NTG's hit song.

Your unnie reacts: If you want a good laugh, this drama delivers. I enjoyed this one. I've already seen it twice and still funny the second time.

The Producers (2015)
Stars: Gong Hyo Jin, Cha Tae Hyun, Kim Soo Hyun, Iu

The plot, basically: Tak Ye Jin (Gong Hyo Jin) and Ra Joon Mo (Cha Tae Hyun) works in a television network as producers of variety shows. Ye Jin handles a successful show while Joon Mo's show is on the brink of being cancelled due to low ratings.

Your unnie reacts: This drama is okay. It provides a sneak peek of how people behind variety shows work. Also, I ship Iu and Kim Soo Hyun.
