Exploring Iloilo Countryside

I've already been to Iloilo in 2011 with friends but we explored mostly the city. I remember enjoying the food in this province. Iloilo is the home of batchoy, a noodle soup with chicken, pork, beef, and crushed pork cracklings (chicharon). I was with friends then and our trip coincided with my birthday which made it more memorable.

This time, I was in Iloilo for work so our activities will be different from what we did before. We went to visit: PATANOM and NNTH seaweed farm.

People in this coastal village in Iloilo grow seaweed to be later processed for gulaman (gelatin).

Dry seaweeds
We have a vegetarian in our group so the seaweed farmers gave us this seaweed for her to eat. In Ilocano we call this ar-arusip.

The view was scenic as well on our way to and from the NNTH seaweed farm.

After the visit, we went back to our host' place and had snacks while waiting for dinner. Because this is what Filipinos do to their visitors--fatten them up.
Seafood all-stars--crabs, bangus, pusit, kilawin, etc prepared by our host Ka Minyong and his family
After magpakabundat sa dinner, we went to a resort where we will stay the night. We took the same way going to the NNTH farms, but much farther and it goes uphill and it's not concrete so it was like being one of the rides in a theme park. 😆

In the morning, we left for Sicogon Island.
